We can’t stop playing Ximena’s debut album Mediocre on repeat since getting our manos on it (perk of working in the music industry). To whom does la cantante attribute her wide range of musical influences? Ximena gives props to her musician parents and Pearl Jam; these are just a few sources of inspiration that shape her unique sound:

Pues, bueno, yo decidí que quería hacer música ya de lleno cuando escuché a Radiohead, y Pearl Jam, y Fiona Apple y de ahí fue que decidí estudiar música. Entonces a partir de ahí, empecé a hacer todo tipo de cosas, escribir canciones para soundtracks, empecé a tocar con tríos, cuartetos, y big bandas, y estándares de jazz, hasta que finalmente se desembocó todo en este proyecto que es mi primer disco de solista.
