Thanks to MTV News, we got an update on Spanish film director Guillermo del Toro, who’s hard at work on the script for The Hobbit. Del Toro recruited good company to work on his highly anticipated follow-up to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, including LOTR alumni director Peter Jackson and screen writers Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens. According to Guillermo, he and his silver screen amigos are a “dream team.” In fact, he compares he and his staff to supergroups of the highest order, like The Beatles:
I don’t know if I’m Ringo or John or what….but we’re all jamming at the same time.
Toro says that “things happen magically” when the film experts work together. “Magic” is an ideal word to describe this relationship, considering the fantastical subject matter of the film. Hopefully, their genius won’t run dry — The Hobbit isn’t scheduled to drop until 2011. Until then, keep recycling those LOTR classics!
