Do you have a favorite track in your self-titled album?
You know I really don't have a favorite. I worked really hard on all of them. "Crush" is definitely one of my favorites because it was my first single and it has done a lot for me. It is a song that everyone can relate to. Another song I really like is titled "You Can" and it's a really simple love song and the next single "Touch My Hand," is also really cool because it talks about reaching out to the audience. That's what you do when you sing, you find that connection with the crowd.
Are you really working on a Spanish version to the single "Crush"?
We have been planning on that. Right now we are working on translating it while still trying to preserve the meaning behind the song. There isn't really a direct translation for the word crush in Spanish. So, we have been trying to find the best way to adapt it. I feel like the Spanish single would be a good way to give back to part of my culture. Even though I don't speak amazing Spanish, I grew up with it. Both of my parents speak it.
Any Latin songs that really inspired you growing up?
It was a huge influence growing up. The first song I ever sang as a kid was "Como La Flor" by Selena.
A lot of your songs follow a romantic flow. Do you have a 'special' inspiration for it all?
There isn't anyone I am interested in right now. I am single. I have been mainly focusing on my music and making sure everything goes well. Waiting for the right girl to come.
Are there any Latin artists in particular that you would like to collaborate with?
I would love to work with La India. I think she is such a great singer. She is amazing and I would love to do a duet with her.
You filmed a cameo for Nickelodeon's iCarly. Can we expect more acting from you in the future?
You never know. I never imagine myself being in movies, but it is so much fun to act. There are plenty of similarities between acting and singing because you are connecting to an interpretation or a character. The same motive is to move the audience. I didn't have a huge role in iCarly, but it was still so much fun. I would love to see what other opportunities come in the future.
Bueno, we can affirm that the sky is the limit for this muchacho! Check out his exclusive interview at Buzzworthy and be sure to check out David Archuleta, Gloria Trevi, and LaLa this Thursday on Mi TRL at 4pm and 9pm.
