Beyonce A Wannabe Latina In New “I AM…Sasha Fierce” Album?

CAUTION: We may have another wannabe Latina on the loose! First we shouted-out Britney Spears with her “Mmm Papi” fetish, and now Beyonce - or her alter ego Sasha Fierce - deserves a barrio double-take.

The pop diva has flossed her sensual twang and sassy Spanish lyrics in the past. It wasn’t that long ago since Beyonce sealed her prized package initiation with help from cadera shakin’ estrella Shakira for “Beautiful Liar.” It appears that Mrs. Fierce is coming back for más azúcar in her new album “I AM…Sasha Fierce” with an español version of “If I Were a Boy/Si Yo Fuera Un Chico.” We can already here her jam playing on nuestro radios, but do you think Beyonce has taken her wannabe Latina ticket too far?

Listen to “Si Yo Fuera Un Chico” and you be the judge! Keep it locked for the all-day video premiere on Monday, November 24th.

  1. I think the song is actually really bad.
  2. Como se dice 'wack' en español??
  3. I actually love her and some other latinas aren't even proud so it is good to see people like her inspired by our culture:)
  4. i think it is pretty cool and yes she is inspired by your culture....
  5. SO TRUE!!!
thank you someone else agrees with me
  6. I am an African American woman who loves all kinds of music including Latin music. I am not able to speak Spanish, so I really enjoy it when a Latin artist records something in English, but I don't think that makes them a "Wanna Be". I think it's great that American Artist are recognizing that there are other cultures out there who like their music, but would like to hear it in their language, that doesn't make Beyonce a "Wanna Be", that's just what some people want to label her.
It really is a shame that we are all one race, the human race, but we are still so divided by insignificant things.

    Peace
  7. So then I guess the same could be said of Shakira when she re-released her 'Laundry Service' album and 'Oral Fixation' album in english, right? HYPOCRITES!

Please, you idiots don't even know what you're talking about. Beyonce CAN sing as many songs in Spanish as she wants, because 1. It's a process called ACCULTURATION, and 2. LATIN music is very much infused and highly influenced by AFRICAN music, so if anyone can sing a song in spanish, it's Beyonce.

You're so quick to adopt a separatist view, instead of trying to unite our cultures. This reminds me of last year when everyone was saying that Beyonce wanted to be a Latina just because she said she appreciated the culture. Side note: I know latina women that consider themselves black, so what are you hoping to accomplish by forcing them to choose who they align themselves with?. It's as if no one can do a bellydance without being compared to Shakira or being called a latina-swagger jacker. Go somewhere with that!
  8. I dont think she's a wannabe. She either seems to love the Latin culture or is a smart businesswoman or both!
  9. i really like her n i dont think she's a "wanna be" n we have to give it 2 her 4 her first song in spanish "iremplasable" but this new song in spanish its just SUCKS i like the song in english but in spanish dosent make any sence its stupid i think she could do much better than this wack song
  10. In a sea of Latin singers there is no strong Afro-Latina singer...so I say freak it! Let her be the one to represent us, we'll adopt her as an Afro-Latina Go Beyonce!
  11. Nancy, great comment..right on POINT! We will always have those with seperatist views it's either that or some folks are feeling a wee bit threaten, pobrecitos. I am one of those Latinas who identifies as Black, and a Puerto Rican.. I am an Afro-Latina like Tego, and Feliz Trinidad are Afro-Latinos. White Americans aren't the only ones who have their small minded dimwits, we have them in the Latin community, too.
  12. I think B is doing here think and quite well... You have spanish artist who do a multi- language albums so why can't African Americans... If she wants to do it then let her be because everyone that's hating I don't see y'all doing anything! I like the Hispanic culture and when I write songs in English I wanna do them in Spanish, not because I'm a wannabe cuz I love being black but because I wanna get a wider audiance and I love the culture...
  13. i give her props, much respect.
  14. I Think she might b ah "wanna be latina"
i know we latinaz are hot and have dat passion
I mean is nice she is sinqinq in spanish
but have u seen all em enqlish sinqinq celebreties
    now sinqinq in spanish.
but yet i've seen many latinos sinqinq in enqlish 2.
    i say "wanna be's"
  15. People are so unbelieveably ignorant. Beyonce is a beautiful talented woman who can sing in Spanish as well as any other language, because she has the talent and the charisma to do so. She is no Wannabe. People just like to hate. Her music transcends any language.
  16. Now I find some of these posts on "Be" very, very interesting. If she is a wannabe, what is Reggaeton? Isn't reggaeton taken from reggae which was created by black Jamaicans? Wasn't mambo and other latin infused music taken from the Africans? When Jose Feliciano sang "Light My Fire" which was a Jim Morrison and the Doors hit from the 1960's was he trying to be a white wannabe? Was he "selling out"? The late, great African-American crooner Nat "King" Cole sang "Oh Chistmas Tree" in the native German language and it was one of his biggest hits. The German government even gave him an award for singing one of their most cherished holiday songs and keeping the German culture alive. It's still one of the most requested Christmas songs 40 years later. What about Gloria Estafan? Is she a annabe because she sings in both languages? I mean, I could go on and on.

We are becoming a multicultural nation and I guess some folks can't accept that. Black americans have seen our culture, music, dress - our entire spectrum of creativity stolen from us many times over - but still we are very loving and forgiving people. We are dynamic, creative people who can sing and perform anything. "Be" is bad as she wants to be and as the young people say, "I ain't mad at her."

"Be" is just showing you all how creative and versatile she is. Shouldn't latinos be glad that someone appreciates your culture and is trying to sing in a language that you can understand. I mean some latinos have been screaming for years that the U.S. should be a two-language country. Now nearly every damn thing in the U.S. is written in English and Spanish, from detergent to voting ballots.

Latinos are now the second largest minority in the U.S. (and with illegal immigration soon to be even larger - because you know Obama is going to give you amnesty). And some of you are having a hissy fit over "Be" singing in Spanish? Boy, what hypocrites!! You can't have it both ways, on the one hand wanting everything in Spanish and then complaining because someone sings a few songs in Spanish! You folks need to get a life.
  17. I love reggaeton and latin music but it doesnt mean i wanna be latina but beyonce said 'i am jealous that i wasnt born latina'- she obviously dislikes her ethnicity- cant she like other music without wishing to be something shes not
  18. Jajajajajajaj me hacen reir.... no mamen first of all:
'We can already here her jam playing on nuestro radios'
Spell check twice, three times, four...but don't post this type of blogs specially when it isn't well written it makes us Latinos look bad!!!!!
And how come we don't talk about the Mexican singers try to sing in English? At least Beyonce sings good in spanish....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Hey Guys,

Irish girl here, been learning spanish for a few years now and love Beyonce so I love that I can do two things i love at once now - listen to Bee and perfect my spanish!
