Since being found innocent of gun and marijuana possession for his arrest back in 2004, Don Omar plans on chillin’ out and livin’ it up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As if we didn’t have enough reasons to visit la isla del encanto, the reggaetonero has decided to celebrate his newfound libertad by hosting an exclusive party “Mi Libertad, Don Omar, La Celebración” in club Liquid.

It looks like legal woes are over for the ‘King of Kings.’ Last night in Florida Don Omar was cleared of all charges associated with his 2004 arrest for gun and marijuana possession. Whew! We were on pins and needles for a minute there.  If he was put in the slammer, who would take his place as el rey?  And who would we blog about? As the reggaetonero left the court room he had this to say about the verdict:

Quisiera decir muchas cosas, pero la tranquilidad de volver a respirar es importante. Le quiero dar gracias a Dios, a mi familia, a mis amistades, a mis abogados, a los fiscales y al juez.

Bueno, now he can move on to more important business - like competing with Daddy Yankee on the silver screen. [People En Espanol]

We keep rooting for Don Omar but he’s making it hard for us to be cheerleaders lately.  El Don does not know when to put a cork in it! He reportedly insulted a police officer during his court proceedings yesterday in Puerto Rico. As the reggaetonero was walking out of the court room he said the officer was:

Uno de los gusanos que quedan dentro del barril de las manzanas podridas.

Even as a crime suspect, the Don es tan poético, no? Maybe that’s why he’s seen as a “king.”  When we asked him about his title, he said:

La gente dicen que soy el rey del reggaeton, yo lo afirmo también. Quizás es ese momento que quieres dejarle claro a todos lo que ya ellos saben y ese momento yo creo que más antes de hablar de mí es un tributo a lo que el rey de reyes ha hecho por mí, todos sus cuidados, todo lo que hemos podido y lo que he podido cambiar en mí todo lo debo a él, pero tiene que ver también con la carrera, con lo que soy, con exponentes del género, con cual de todos ahora demuestra que es el rey del reggaeton.

It seems like it’s back to smooth sailing these days for el Rey Don Omar. Despite recent legal troubles, he still has time to focus his energy on things like, oh say, acting?!

For those of you who can’t get enough of him, now you don’t have to stand outside a court room or in a concert hall to get a glimpse of el rey de reyes. Ahora, you can see him on the silver screen. He has a part in the new Fast and Furious film alongside actor Vin Diesel. Some of the scenes with him and Vin together are currently being filmed in the Dominican Republic.

But that doesn’t mean he has forgotten about his music. Just a few months ago the reggaetonero performed a sold out show in Puerto Rico:

Un evento que no me va a marcar a mí, va a marcar la música. Un evento familiar en Puerto Rico que me va a dejar la oportunidad de presentarme a todos tal cual soy.

The past comes back to haunt Don Omar! The reggaetonero has been caught in the long arm of la ley for a while; his troubles date back to a September 2004 arrest for alleged gun and marijuana possession. Despite all of the drama, “El Rey de los Reyes” was captured in high spirits as he exited Puerto Rico’s Centro Judicial with wifey Jackie Guerrido yesterday.

The Don is getting a slew of new offers including one alongside Queen M.I.L.F. Halle Berry. The project isn’t titled yet, but the newlywed already had this to say about the Academy Award winning actriz:

“[Es] preciosa y creo que es una súper actriz. La respeto mucho, mucho, mucho,”

Wonder what his esposa is going to say about that!

While we don’t think every Reggaetonero needs to be showcased on the silver screen, hopefully it will keep him out of the court room.

Our sospechas have risen after hearing this news. Amidst all the plagiarism controversy surrounding Don Omar and Wisin y Yandel, Nando Boom – el cantante who’s accusing El Don and WYY of stealing his song – just announced his new album drop. Was this plagiarism scandal just a ploy to get some attention? Does this mean Tego was right all along? Nando was also in talks having WYY guest star on his album but that sure as hell ain’t happening for obvious razones. [Blog Reggaeton]

Things got hotter than usual in Miami this past weekend as Don Omar and MTV Tr3s took over Hotel Mandarin’s presidential suite during a shoot for two upcoming shows with El Don. Despite his recent scandal involving Nando Boom and Wisin y Yandel, the singer had nothing but sonrisas when working with our crew. The newlywed reggaetonero will host music video diary show Videologia, as well as the upcoming Father’s Day Padrisimo special! WYY aren’t the only guys gettin’ decked out for court. Don Omar is getting the judicial smackdown too. Unlike Wisin y Yandel, who deny any wrongdoing in their plagiarism lawsuit, Don Omar has publicly confessed he knew about Nando Boom’s song “Enfermo de Amor.” He will pay the Panamanian singer $100,000 for his faux pas. Wisin y Yandel are still claiming their innocence but Don Omar has embraced his mistake, saying “I want them to tell me how is it that they don’t remember that we all knew about the song?”

Upfronts are all the rage this week as TV networks are showcasing what’s in store for the new season. This week MTV Tr3s hosted their Upfront party at B.B. Kings in Times Square with Don Omar and Malverde as special guests. El Don along with his signature cornrows and blinged-out watch greeted the audience with a performance of his hits “Dale Don Dale,” “King of Kings,” “Canción De Amor” and a mix of his best tunes. No esposa in sight, but we’ll catch Don and Jackie together sooner or later! It was Malverde who brought the house down with some slam poetry which he then transitioned into his hit song “Este Camino.” Damn that Mal is smooth.
