We said sueñan, not duermen... malpensados!

It looks like Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado y el ícono de la música ranchera, Alejandro Fernandez, hooked up in Miami to record one of the tracks for Nelly's first full-length Spanish album Mi Plan. "Sueños" is the song that brought them together to fuse their musical talent for one of several collaborations on Nelly's latest, release this past September. Other great collabs include Juan Luis Guerra, Julieta Venegas, y hasta La Mala Rodríguez.

Currently, Alejandro can be found in Guadalajara prepping for his own album release, Dos Mundos, which promises to show fans both sides of his world, the regional Mexican and his cross over into pop music. Le deseamos mucha suerte a Alejandro!

One of our favorite Mexican pop-rock superstars, Julieta Venegas, will be officially named a UNICEF goodwill ambassador tomorrow en la ciudad de Mexico. This makes Julieta the second mexicana to ever receive this honor, despues de César Costa.

Julieta has been donating her time to caring for the poor children of her country, and now she'll be sharing ese buen corazón with the rest of the world.

Best of luck Julieta! [El Sol de Mexico]

Even international pop stars need role models, y para Nelly Furtado, la artista to whom she most looks up to is Julieta Venegas.  Good choice, Nelly!

We sat down with the "Manos Al Aire" cantante to get find out more about the inspirations behind su nuevo album en español, Mi Plan.  When we asked which Latin artist she was most inspired by, we were only a little surprised to discover it was Julieta Venegas.  After all, la cantante de "Eres Para Mí" will be featured in one of Nelly's upcoming singles, and, as it turns out, has collaborated en unas cuantas canciones más del album.

Have we mentioned that we can't wait to hear that collaboration?

Bueno, and what else did Nelly learn during the recording of the upcoming album?  Other than perfecting su acento español, Nelly also embraced her passionate Latina side, which she says will start to rub off on her English canciones también.  Hmm, looks like any upcoming Nelly Furtado concerts are going to be a lot fo fun to watch!

Music fans put your hands up because the list of Los Premios Billboard nominations are in...

Without a doubt, Enrique Iglesias conquered the top of la lista with ten total noms for "Hot Latin Song," "Song of the Year," and "Album of the Year" for "95/08" among others. The "Away" singer wasn't the only one racking-up double digit nominations. Flex conquered the game with thirteen nominations, including "Hot Latin Song" for "Te Quiero" and "Top Latin Album of the Year." Sorry haters, "Romantic Style" is here to stay!

Of course, our favorite talented damas also shined on the Billboard charts. Ivy Queen, Jenni Rivera, and Julieta Venegas all received the high honors of being nominated for the "Hot Latin Song of the Year." Jenni and Julieta earned double props for "Top Latin Album of the Year" for "Julieta Venegas: MTV Unplugged" and "Jenni." Sounds like this is going to be a tough call.

Best of all, RBD won a nomination for "Best Tour of the Year." This only means that the group will rock the red carpet juntos again for one last time! Click here for a complete list of Los Premios Billboard nominees. Who do you think will walk away a winner? [MTV TR3s Radio Noticias]

Julieta Venegas graced the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Finland this week.

Sin duda, the Mexican songstress led a siren serenade that sparked a modern-day revolution. The annual event viewed in more than 100 countries promotes an inclusive form to initiating peaceful resolutions. Perhaps you missed the memo, but trust us the fiesta didn't just include pompous political puppets.

UPDATE: La Mexicana flexed her peaceful vibes a second time around at The Peace Concert in Norway. Scarlett Johansson co-hosted the festivities along with British actor Michael Caine, but it was the "El Presente" singer's performance that sealed la noche's mediation. Julieta also rocked the stage with heavyweight musical icons, including the soulful Diane Ross.

We wonder if Julieta ended the evening similar to her Latin Grammy win. Did someone say tequila?!

Julieta Venegas sure does have her hands full lately...

Between jugging two Latin Grammy awards for a "Best Alternative Music" and "Best Long Form Music Video" for her "MTV Unplugged" acoustic album and flexing her vocals in a world tour, Julieta has proven to be la reina of multi-tasking. MTV News caught up with the super cute Latin alternative princess after the Latin Grammys to ask her how she planned on celebrating it all. Like a true mexicana she said:

I don't know, I guess with Tequila!

The holidays came early for our favorite artists during the 2008 Latin Grammy Awards last night.

Julieta Venegas sparkled with alegría after winning "Best Alternative Music Album" and "Best Music Video - Expanded Version" for her masterful “MTV Unplugged” compilation. The glowing estrella also worked her accordion and vocal expresiones with a live performance of "El Presente." Luckily the timely celebration didn't end there.

La noche's theme was all about listening to the lyrics. Sin duda, Juanes encompassed the meaning with "La Vida Es un Ratico," which toppled the competition by snagging five Latin Grammy Awards, including "Album of the Year," "Best Male Pop Vocal Album," and "Best Song of The Year" for "Me Enamora."

The Colombiano also performed an R&B remixed rendition of "Odio Por Amor/Hate For Love" with the legendary John Legend. In between all of the excitement, Juanes gave a grande GRACIAS to everyone:

I can't believe it. I am very, very happy, very grateful to life, to music, to God, to the Academy. For me, this has been incredible. It's a dream.

His sueño appeared complete after sharing kisses with his amor Karen Martinez. The love didn't stop there...and no we don't mean Juanes ran around giving besos to all of las chicas! There were plenty of other artistas that celebrated their eventful win.

Flex also shared the romance by winning the award for "Best Urban Song" for his hit single "Te Quiero."

Professional reggaetoneros, Wisin y Yandel also flexed their smooth movimientos by winning the "Best Urban Music Album" Latin Grammy for "Los Extraterrestres."

Café Tacuba offered a heavy dose of energía with a show-stopping performance. The rocking quartet ruled the festivities by dominating the categories for "Best Rock Song" for "Esta Vez" and "Best Alternative Song" for "Volver a Comenzar."

The rocquero steez continued to take over with help from Belanova. The synth-pop rock band took home the Latin Grammy for "Best Duo or Group Album" for "Fantasía Pop."

This dirty chisme just flashed RED ALERT! In case you missed the memo, word is that Julieta Venegas is pregnant, and not even her camouflaging tricks (thick sunglasses, bag, book, and jacket hiding the belly) can save her from this one...

The Mexicana has remained extremely private about her vida romántica, but that only makes chismosos buzz for more juicy details! The "Eres Para Mí" singer has been rumored to be coupled-up with Spanish music executive, Carlos Mariño, but Julieta insists that she is not expecting a baby anytime soon.

She confirms:

Ahora mismo no me interesaría tener hijos, porque estoy clavada en mis cosas, pero los niños me caen súper bien y quizá a lo mejor un día.

Instead of starting her own familia, the Latin Grammy-winner is joining forces with UNICEF for "Regalos de corazón" a campaign advocating to aid los infantes in Mexico.

She reveals her inspiration:

Me frustran diversas situaciones que ocurren porque me interesa cuidarlos y protegerlos para que tengan las mismas oportunidades que todos merecemos. Lo único que puedo hacer como artista es colaborar con la gente que está organizada.

We can check our chismes at the door because Julieta's motherly instincts are de corazón. Even though...this does prove that she will be a fantastic mamacita! No crees? [La Oreja]
