The premiere for Michael Jackson documentary 'This Is It' went down in Los Angeles Tuesday night and was chock full of our favorite red-carpet ready Latinos! The roster included Jennifer Lopez, Roselyn Sanchez, Mario Lopez, Rosie Perez, and even former MTV VJ, Daisy Fuentes. Will Smith and Katy Perry also attended, as well as Paris Hilton and Paula Abdul. 'This Is It' hit theaters yesterday and will run for two and weeks. The film follows Jackson during the concert rehearsals leading up to his untimely death.
La cantante talks about how 'MTV Unplugged' allows artists to be more themselves. She will be peforming a stripped down, jazzy version of her mega-hit "I Kissed A Girl." La Perry also mentioned how her larger-than-life personality is reflected en su forma de vestir. Claro, Katy, we'd noticed that!
Katy Perry will be joining the ranks of such artists as Julieta Venegas, Nirvana, Jay-Z, Alejandro Sanz y más, who've all been a part of the legendary serie de música. The show will be premiering soon on MTV Tr3s, so keep it locked for more info!
See what else la cantante had to say about her first 'MTV Unplugged' appearance in the trailer below:
Katy Perry and 2009 MTV VMA Host, Russell Brand, are OFFICIAL! After sharing a kiss at Lady Gaga's VMA after party, the two have been inseparable, even vacationing in Thailand together. That was quick! The duo were spotted in London last week, and are currently in Paris for fashion week, along with Perry's BFF, Rihanna.[PerezHilton]
What do you think of the new couple? Is this a step up from Perry's former boyfriend Gym Class Heroes front man, Travis McCoy, or a step down?
You may have thought that la revolución de reggaeton was only big in the U.S. and P.R., pero think again! Dynamic duo Wisin y Yandel have captured the attention of fans below the border también. The duo may take home as many as seis lenguas if they win every award they've been nominated for at this year's Los Premios MTV, from the MTV Latin America awards for Artista del Año y Mejor Artista Urbano to our award for Best MTV Tr3s Artist. Other heavy contenders on October 15th will be Paulina Rubio, who has five nominations and Lady Gaga who has four.
This year, Premios is definitely going to rock out; roqueros Zoe received four nominations this year. Nominees for Artista del Año are also quite diverse, from reggaetoneros Wisin y Yandel and alterna sweetheart Ximena Sariñana to pop diva Paulina Rubio and rockers Kudai.
If you thought having Russell Brand emcee the VMAs would be sufficient controversy for post-show water cooler convo, think again.
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards just got more interesting after today's announcement that bad-ass singer P!nkand punk rockers Green Day would perform. Green Day will treat the VMA crowd to a single off of their new relase 21st Century Breakdown. P!nk will bring some much-needed "Bad Influence" to the show by performing a tune from Funhouse, most likely in dominatrix-inspired lingerie. P!nk and Green Day will be joining MuseandTaylor Swifton stage as headliners.
About reprising her 2008 VMA role, Pink told MTV News:
Last year, I got to jump out of a window at the VMAs in L.A...This year, I can't wait to blow the roof off Radio City in New York.
En otras noticias VMAs, the first round of celebrity presenters was announced, including Katy Perry (you can already hear the blogs buzzing), Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford, and Ne-Yo.
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will take place September 13 at 9 pm ET. Stay plugged into Blogamole for VMA news including nominee, performer and presenter updates.
It looks like you will be getting a run for your money this go round at the 51st Grammy Awards. When females win they win big and this year seems no different. With heavy hitter princesses like Leona Lewis, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Duffy, Adele and Madonna nominated this year it looks like it will be ladies night.
Round one: Old-timers and rookies alike will battle it out for the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy, including Adele, Leona Lewis, Katy Perry, Duffy and Pink. We think this might be a battle between the Brits if it plays out anything like last year.
Round two: The title for Best Dance Recording will be a throwdown between new-comer Lady Gaga, Rihanna AND Madonna! As catchy as her tune "Let's Dance" may be (it haunts us in our sleep), we are not sure if Gaga has a chance in heck here. Still, it must be nice to be among such elite company as the material girl and the "Disturbia" queen.
Can you guess which chica is nominated for five Grammys - giving her the chance break big records Sunday night? Tip: it's none of the above. Find out in the video after the jump! [MTV News]
