We may know Lala for being open about matters of the heart, but the "Sprung On a Thug" singer also shows love for her hometown of California. Her "pretty brown LA sound" not only reps her fixation on thugs, but this chica also values her homegurlz and barrio to the fullest.
Check out her exclusive MTV News interview and tell us if you are feelin' Lala's west coast vibe. We wouldn't mind lowridin' in her new whip that's for sure!

This weekend MTV Tr3s got a sneak peek at LaLa’s latest video for her new single “Sprung on Thug.” The song speaks from la experiencia. Lala talks about ‘el culpable’ behind her lyrics:
I think a lot of girls can really relate to that. You know, liking the bad boy, the one you are really not supposed to. It’s kind of cliché but we have all been through it, right?
I wrote it about one specific boyfriend that I had in high school. But if could really apply to a lot of boyfriends I had. I’m not saying I’m in that phase anymore. I’ve grown out of it….sort of….
The song may be about a boy in high school but as far as the video was concerned, LaLa brought on a new Latino talent to play her bad boy. The Latina songstress co-starred with local LA rapper and Latino veteran Don’t Know. Don’t Know was casted by none other than LaLa’s MySpace fans. She had everyone submit pictures of their hermanos, primos, novios etc for consideration. After picking the top five her fans made the final decision on who would play LaLa’s Thug.
Don’t Know isn’t the only guy you can see in the song. Rapper “The Game” is featured too and LaLa couldn’t be more excited.
I’ve always been a fan. We are kind of in the same age group, so he is kind of like my generation. So it’s fun for me to have him kind of give the little nod, the little stamp of approval like: Ok, you're official, I’m gonna hop on your record.
Seems like Lala can’t get enough of the guys. Pero no te preocupes... she still faithfully reps her Homegurlz. The video also features model/actress Natalie Martinez, who is not only one of LaLa's amigas, but also the upcoming co-host for the upcoming special MTV Tr3s Fashionista, airing August 16th at 2PM EST.
