Los Tigres Del Norte were all set to perform their #1 regional Mexican hit "La Granja" at this year's Lunas del Auditorio award show in Mexico. But they were asked not to play that particular song, with lyrics citing controversial innuendos about politicians que se hacen ricos on the backs of the poor, and the impact of drug trafficking. Y que hicieron Los Tigres when they received the request to skip this song? Well, they pulled out of the award show altogether!

The guys are taking a stand against the censorship of "La Granja" which apparently began among some radio stations in their native Mexico. The music video accompanying the song is a combination of live action and animation, where the characters are depicted as animals on a farm. The pigs represent the wealthy politicians, the vicious dog represents drug trafficking, the fox represents el Presidente Vicente Fox ...you get the idea.

Parece que Los Tigres are giving Residente Calle 13 some real competition in the "offending governments" department! Watch the video for "La Granja" here, and weigh in below to let us know what you think.

Los hombres better step to the side because música ranchera has been craving a woman’s touch...

“La Diva de la Banda” has earned her #1 glory with her self-titled album, and now she is hoping to walk away with the Latin Grammy for "Best Ranchero Award." Popular male singers like Pepe Aguilar and Vicente Fernández have always received props for their musical talent, but Jenni has stepped in and shown that women are just as capable of gracefully mastering your traditional corrido.
We spoke exclusively to Jenni Rivera about her thoughts as the only mujer nominated in the musical category:
It has been male dominant forever. It was the males that were on top, you know it wasn't the female that sang banda that was very daring. I wanted to demonstrate that females can do it. And now there is hope and opportunity.

Jenni may be all about the ladies, but she is willing to extend rightful props to legendary group Los Tigres Del Norte. The norteño-band will have "La Buena Suerte" to rock the stage along with Jorge Celedon, Fonseca, El Mariachi Vargas, Café Tacuba, Flex, Belinda, Juanes, Julieta Venegas and so much more. For a complete list of performances and presenters be sure to check out The 2008 Latin Grammy website.

While you are marking the date on your calendar, be sure to include checking Jenni Rivera on MTV Tr3s. We will be featuring la diva as our Artist of the Week starting November 3rd. Keep it locked for more exclusive news pronto!
