Almodóvar’s muse Penelope Cruz was recently spotted filming an intense outdoor scene for the Spanish director’s thriller “Los Abrazos Rotos” in Spain. Although the plot has remained under-wraps, Almodóvar admits the film is being shot to mimic the cinematic style of 1950s American film noir.

Penelope plays the leading role as Lena, and although the script is still being developed, the “Volver” director has a clear vision of the film’s meaning,

Fate, the mystery of creation, guilt, unscrupulous power, the eternal search of fathers for sons, and sons for fathers.

Sounds like another Almodóvar masterpiece is in the works! The film is slated to premiere in March 2009. [FilmWad]

Spanish diva Penélope Cruz is once again heating up the indie movie scene in her latest movie venture, Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

It’s a scene out of any guy’s fantasy come true (y some chicas también, no?) when Penélope locks lips with su lindísima co-star Scarlett Johansson! Yup, you heard right. In true Woody Allen fashion, the film is based on a huge love triangle between two friends, a painter (played by Javier Bardem, Penelope’s real-life squeeze) and his ex-wife (played by Penélope). Yet another actress is crossing over to the fashion design industry and it’s none other than Oscar winner Javier Bardem’s latest crush, Penelope Cruz. She teamed up with her little hermanita to design their own line of clothes for the fashion chain Mango. During the Mango launch fiesta, Penelope was seen gushing about her new found love, Javier Bardem.

“My love life is wonderful,” she beamed at the Mango launch, adding that she wanted to “spend more time at home”.
