Shakira is one-upping her Colombian counterpart by participating in a series of events and concerts to promote la paz en su patria. Shakira arrived in Leticia, Colombia on July 20th to kick off a series of movements against Colombian guerilla acts causing havoc in the country’s remote areas. The superstar got things shakin’ by singing the Colombian national anthem alongside Presidents Uribe of Colombia, Lula of Brazil and García of Peru.

While we knew Shakira supported the release of Ingrid Betancourt, we didn’t know the two had become fast friends. Shaki and Ingrid were spotted strolling the streets of Paris yesterday, chatting and lively. Ingrid, a French-Colombian politician, is now working on an empowering campaign against left-wing FARC rebels, which held her in captivity for 6 years. Looks like Shakira is now part of la lucha!

Ingrid is also using Shakira’s song “Hero” as the music to her political commercial:

Besides making multi-million dollar music deals, Shakira spends most of her free time fighting for causes dear to her heart. So, it is no surprise that when former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt (along with 15 other hostages) was rescued yesterday after being kidnapped and held for six years, Shaki was quick to show her support.

Este es un día histórico para todos nosotros, para esta patria nuestra que ha sufrido tanto pero que hoy llora de emoción y de alegría uniéndonos en un inmenso abrazo. Colombia hoy se pone de pie y mira con esperanza el futuro de paz que se acerca.

Colombian forces apparently infiltrated the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, and tricked them into sending Betancourt and the other hostages up in a helicopter to their freedom. Betancourt had been held captive since being kidnapped during her presidential run in 2002. Shakira is totally inspired by her struggle:

We reported to you yesterday that Shakira was in talks to sign a big bucks deal with concert promoter Live Nation. Today the chisme was confirmed!! After being part of the Sony familia since she was thirteen, Shakira is ending her contract and picking up a new one with Live Nation.

No hay duda que Shakira’s got game. She signed a deal that’s reminiscent of the ones signed by U2, Jay-Z and Madonna (no wonder Hard Candy got about 4 minutes of fame — Madge was hot to drop that album as her last commitment to Warner Bros. so she could move on to her Live Nation gig). As part of the new deal, Live Nation will own the rights to Shakira’s future recordings, concert tours, merchandise, sponsorship and digital promotion.

Shakira is proving that her industry hustle is just as tight as her supernatural caderas. Word on la calle is that la bella Colombiana has just signed a $70 million partnership with concert promoter Live Nation which is known for representing high-end clients like Madonna and Jay-Z.

Colombiana crossover sensation Shakira has been chosen to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. About time! Oops, we mean: ¡Qué chévere! It’s good to know that her philanthropic work (y por supuesto, también her hips) haven’t gone unnoticed!

Among the other honorees are Cameron Diaz (yay! another hot Latina representin’!), Robert Downey Jr. of Iron Man fame, director Tim Burton (Sweeney Todd), and actor Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort in the Harry Potter series).
