While some of us enjoyed the holidays by recovering from our coquito hangovers (a.k.a. chillin’ in our PJ’s and eating leftovers), Wisin y Yandel celebrated La Navidad by granting a holiday wish for charity.

The dynamic duo returned to Puerto Rico for a holiday vacation after wrapping-up their ‘08 worldwide tour, and spent their downtime with cerebral palsy victim, Alex Yaniel Fuentes Camacho. Wisin y Yandel also donated a brand-new wheelchair to el niño. Props to los reggaetoneros for being in the holiday spirit de corazón.
What special upgrade would you want from these fellas?

Juanes has earned even more street cred from Wisin y Yandel…

The Colombian roquero made peacemaking easier than a meeting at the U.N. thanks to his proactive track, “Odio Por Amor/Love For Hate.” Besides earning the America’s Trust humanitarian award, Juanes is receiving cariñoso shout-outs from the dynamic duo. When it comes to paying respect to their industry comrades, the reggetoneros keep Juanes on their top list of influential estrellas.
Wisin y Yandel explain:

Ivy Queen gets around when it comes to the recording booth…

The female ringleader is sealing her “Drama Queen” chart-topping success by hooking-up with reggaeton masterminds, Wisin y Yandel and bachatero, Romeo Santos. La Caballota definitely knows how to pick premium goods, especially since the dynamic duo debuted at #1 with their latest collaboration, “La Mente Maestra” and Aventura conquered record selling ticket sells in Puerto Rico.

Besides perfecting her industry hustle, Ivy Queen hopes to take it suave during the holidays. She recently revealed:
This proves that Ivy knows how to pick her men! Which collabo are you most excited about? [MTV Tr3s Radio Noticias]

Our reaction to last week’s Grammy nominations? Let’s just say La Navidad came early for us, and yes, it did include an overdose of creamy (virgin) eggnog coquito. We are recovering from our blowout by shouting-out our favorite nominees, including the dynamic masterminds Wisin y Yandel.

Our “Artist of the Week” duo are preparing to throw-down the competition by snagging the nomination for “Best Latin Urban Album” for “Los Extraterrestres.” Wisin y Yandel will be roughing it out with reggaeton royalty, including nominees RKM & Ken-y for their sophomore LP “The Royalty: La Realeza” and “Los Aguacates de Jiquilpan,” Akwid for their testimonial album “La Novela.”

It should be no sorpresa that Juanes snatched the nomination for “Best Latin Pop Album” for his premium roquero compilation “La Vida…Es Un Ratico.” The vocal humanitarian better tighten his guitarra strings because Luis Fonsi’s romantic tunes for “Palabras del Silencio” also rang loudly enough to gain a nomination in the pop category.

The “No Me Doy Por Vencido” singer is definitely going to fight for his first golden Grammy. He recently spoke to us about how his latest compilation fulfilled all his musical desires:
Este disco tuve la oportunidad de co-producirlo con grandes productores, de trabajar con grandes músicos con quienes siempre he querido trabajar, de grabar en lugares hermosos como Londres, Italia, España, México, Los Ángeles, Miami, Brasil y de también colaborar con grandes amigos como Laura Pausini con quien hice un dúo, también hice un cuarteto con Aleks Syntek, con Noel de Sin Bandera y con David Bisbal.
Also adding a grown-up vibe to our alternative palettes…

Ximena Sariñana is redefining the meaning of her “Medicore” album by claiming the nomination for “Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album.” The “Error” singer walked away empty-handed at the Latin Grammy bash, but this may be her chance at dulce glory. First, she will have to successfully win the battle with nominees El Grupo Fantasma for their classic “Sonidos Gold“!
Looks like only the biggest of the big were invited to this year’s award show! Be sure to check out the complete list of 51st Annual Grammy nominees and spill on your favorite noms aquí. [MTV News]

Fanáticos rejoice!

Wisin y Yandel’s latest compilation “La Mente Maestra” jumped off the meters by debuting at #1 in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The “Me Estas Tentando” players are ending 2009 as good as it started. Besides dominating the charts, the dynamic duo also finished celebrating their Latin Grammy win for “Best Urban Music Album” for “Los Extraterrestres.” With more than 40,000 records sold, these fellas are guaranteed gold in no time.
Felicidades!

The holidays came early for our favorite artists during the 2008 Latin Grammy Awards last night.

Julieta Venegas sparkled with alegría after winning “Best Alternative Music Album” and “Best Music Video - Expanded Version” for her masterful “MTV Unplugged” compilation. The glowing estrella also worked her accordion and vocal expresiones with a live performance of “El Presente.” Luckily the timely celebration didn’t end there.
La noche’s theme was all about listening to the lyrics. Sin duda, Juanes encompassed the meaning with “La Vida Es un Ratico,” which toppled the competition by snagging five Latin Grammy Awards, including “Album of the Year,” “Best Male Pop Vocal Album,” and “Best Song of The Year” for “Me Enamora.”

The Colombiano also performed an R&B remixed rendition of “Odio Por Amor/Hate For Love” with the legendary John Legend. In between all of the excitement, Juanes gave a grande GRACIAS to everyone:
I can’t believe it. I am very, very happy, very grateful to life, to music, to God, to the Academy. For me, this has been incredible. It’s a dream.

His sueño appeared complete after sharing kisses with his amor Karen Martinez. The love didn’t stop there…and no we don’t mean Juanes ran around giving besos to all of las chicas! There were plenty of other artistas that celebrated their eventful win.
Flex also shared the romance by winning the award for “Best Urban Song” for his hit single “Te Quiero.”

Professional reggaetoneros, Wisin y Yandel also flexed their smooth movimientos by winning the “Best Urban Music Album” Latin Grammy for “Los Extraterrestres.”

Café Tacuba offered a heavy dose of energía with a show-stopping performance. The rocking quartet ruled the festivities by dominating the categories for “Best Rock Song” for “Esta Vez” and “Best Alternative Song” for “Volver a Comenzar.”

The rocquero steez continued to take over with help from Belanova. The synth-pop rock band took home the Latin Grammy for “Best Duo or Group Album” for “Fantasía Pop.”
