¡Oye rockeros! It’s that time again where hundreds of Latin rock bands crash NYC for the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference and we’re letting you in on who’s coming to this year’s event. From July 8th-12th you can have your pick on any showcase — and there will be plenty — for all your rock ‘n’ roll needs. La gran noticia of course is Julieta Venegas’ performance at Central Park’s Summer Stage on July 12th and it’s free! Phew, that will cut down on our entertainment expenses for the month. MJ is back in action and this time it’s with Akon. The super producer, who is currently working with hot artists Menudo and Colby O’Donis, is sure to get the eighties icon in good with los jóvenes de hoy. To make the album, Michael is taking a break from the ladies to cook up some beats in the studio. We hear he kicked his latest novia to the curb so este chavo must really mean business! We’re not sure when the album is dropping but we hear The King of Pop is already at the Palms recording studio in Vegas working his “Thriller” touch. Let’s see how he does with Akon by his side. We got an exclusive first look at the music video, “Closer,” the debut single off Ne-Yo’s third LP, Year of the Gentleman. At first, this video bares a striking resemblance to “Gold Digger” (Kanye West) and “My Love” (Justin Timberlake) but 30 seconds in, you’ll realize Ne-Yo es el ganador! Neyo’s Michael Jackson-esque moves sizzle across the screen wooing every woman he seduces and making every man admire his swag. Anyone re-enacting this video is sure to have a 3am breakfast date…and maybe a little dessert. We’ll definitely be premiering this hotness in the coming weeks! El papá de Shakira confirmed during her prima’s CD release party in Colombia that she has started working on her next album due out this fall! Ay caramba, that’s such a long wait. Luckily for Argentineans, they will have a chance to catch la cantante in concert on May 17th with Alejandro Sanz (hmmm), Joaquín Sabina, Gustavo Cerati and Fito Páez. Co-founder of Voto Latino, Rosario Dawson, is working hard to spread the word on the importance of voting. To help encourage a greater Latino vote, VL has released a compilation CD to help motivate the Latino community to get off their booties and hit the polls!

“The Voto Latino compilation is the soundtrack of a movement,” says Rosario Dawson who recently starred in a PSA telenovela parody with Wilmer Valderrama. “It encapsulates everything about the Latino drive to the polls so blast it on your way to change.”

OMG, we had to see it to believe it but David Bisbal and Rihanna have actually hooked up together for the remix of Rihanna’s hit “Hate that I Love You.” Their video isn’t all that WOW looking but the song is spectacular, especially with Bisbal’s Latino flavor added to the mix. We still can’t believe what an odd pairing this is. David Bisbal has nothing in common with Rihanna and hasn’t done anything in his musical career to suspect that he was interested in the U.S. market but there he is, rocking away with Rihanna. Well, it’s a great song so let’s give some props to the odd duo!
