Raunchy guy humor and a cynical pregnant teen are the shining stars at this year’s MTV Movie Awards. “Superbad” and “Juno” take the nomination for Best Movie despite some major competish with mega-action flicks like “I Am Legend,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” “Transformers” and “National Treasure: Book of Secrets.” Those money-guzzling blockbusters got nothing on low budget flicks! Did Will Smith really need to have all those computer animated zombies? Did “Transformers” have to have explosives in every five minutes of the film? Did Johnny Depp really need to be in a pirate boat? Okay, maybe they did but we’re super stoked that “Juno” and “Superbad” were able to make the cut along these movie giants. Get on over to MTV Movie Awards to check out the rest of the nominees and vote for who will take home that bucket of palomitas de maíz on June 1!

To all the bilingual kiddies out there, if your older sister or brother calls you estúpido one more time then back yourself up by letting them know you’re bilingual and that makes you special…in a good way. Word has it that kids who learn two idiomas become more proficient learning inglés as they grow older. Q-qué? Could you repeat that again?
“Speaking two languages opens up a whole new world to children,” says Laurie Weaver, Ed.D., Associate Professor of Bilingual and Multicultural Studies at University of Houston-Clear Lake. “Not only will they be better prepared to understand others, they will also understand themselves and their own language better.”
If that’s true, bilingual haters need to back off with some of the backlash Spanish speakers are receiving for not embracing English easily. [Vivirlatino]

The book-turned-movie that’s driving vampire lovers muy locos made its mind-blowing behind-the-scenes appearance at last weekend’s Comic-Con in NYC. For some who may not know (though that’s highly unlikely), the Twilight phenomenon started back in 2005 when author Stephenie Meyer wrote a vampire love story about two high school students, Bella and Edward, who engage in a twisted love-hate relationship fueled by Edward’s thirst for blood. In other words, he’s a vampire who’s in love with a human. The book surpassed the fantasy hype that Harry Potter once created (so long wizards!) and it’s causing Latinos, especially, to get in on the fanatical fun towards the Twilight series. Watch the clip and let it drive you craaazy! [MTV Movies Blog]

In their recent trip to Mexico, MTV News found out how the emos were holding up from the anti-emo movement. Apparently, after watching the entire report, we think this whole anti-emo stuff has been blown güey (hehe, get it?) out of hand. The news crew spoke with Kristoff, Mexico’s most outspoken anti-emo television VJ, who said there is no anti-emo movement. He even told MTV News they wouldn’t be able to find one person to publicly talk about it because it doesn’t exist. Qué sorpresa! And all this time we thought those little emo kiddies were being beaten on a daily basis. [MTV News]

Co-founder of Voto Latino, Rosario Dawson, is working hard to spread the word on the importance of voting. To help encourage a greater Latino vote, VL has released a compilation CD to help motivate the Latino community to get off their booties and hit the polls!
“The Voto Latino compilation is the soundtrack of a movement,” says Rosario Dawson who recently starred in a PSA telenovela parody with Wilmer Valderrama. “It encapsulates everything about the Latino drive to the polls so blast it on your way to change.”
The entire album is available on iTunes for only $3.99 and it has an unreleased track from Pitbull himself! Now that sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Check out who else is featured on the album after the jump.

It looks like The Simpsons are a bit too raunchy for daytime TV which is why Señor Chavez (el presidente de Venezuela) decided to pull the show off the air in his native country because he thinks it’s inappropriate for kids. So to replace the lovable family we’ve all come to laugh hysterically at — Bart, Lisa, Marge, Homer, Maggie — Chavez has chosen Baywatch to take over the new time slot in the morning. En serio?! Baywatch…the show with half naked ladies running around the beach performing CPR on everyone but the victims? How Baywatch got to be more acceptable to kids is a complete mystery to us! Chavez is surely going loco! [Times Online]

Marc Anthony was driving los Peruanos loco during his sold out concert in Lima, Peru yesterday for nearly 55,000 people! There was dancing, screaming, singing…just about all the locura you can imagine when a star as big as Marc comes to the barrio. And the craziness got even worse when a fan threw a Peruvian jersey on stage which Marc then picked up and put it on his esqueleto self, reppin’ Peru as if he were a true Peruano. Oooo, Puerto Rico must be jealous! [Peru.com]
