Last night's Nobel Peace Prize Concert in honor of President Obama took place in Oslo, Norway.  El concierto, which was hosted by Will Smith y su esposa, Jada Pickett Smith, and included a performance by Wyclef Jean,  also counted con un invitado Latino - none other than Latin Grammy-winning cantante Luis Fonsi!

Ay, now there's a photo you can frame and show el mundo entero!  We wonder if he'll put it on the mantelpiece next to his Latin Grammy?

Earlier this week, President Obama and the First Lady celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by inviting over some major estrellas de la música Latina, and some other famous celebs. But we have a weakness for Aventura (doesn't everyone?), so we're bringing you a clip of their performance of "Su Veneno," courtesy of PBS and MTV News. Listen up for Romeo's recount of a conversation with the President, and a shout out to Justice Sotomayor, who's also from the Bronx!

Enjoy!

Last night, the White House became La Casa Blanca y nuestro Presidente brought out even more of his Latino side than he has already... At least that was the running joke from George Lopez, Eva Longoria Parker, and Jimmy Smits that started off the "Fiesta Latina" showcase last night.

The event not only hosted amazing Latino figures (including the first Hispanic to sit on the Supreme Court, Justice Sonia Sotomayor), it was really a celebration of our culture y nuestra música. Obama spoke about the global appeal of our ritmo Latino, and how all cultures can tune into it. Some of those bringing down the house were Gloria Estefan, José Feliciano, and Los Premios nominees for Best MTV Tr3s Artist, Aventura, among others. But our favorite performance came from Thalía who asked President Obama to dance with her and called him "Machooo!" Love it!  Watch the clip of Obama dancing with Thalía here!

The grand finale had all the celebs on stage together, dancing to Gloria Estefan's "Mi Tierra." A perfect end to an amazing night. Stay tuned to MTV News for exclusive coverage.

Earlier we reported that President Obama has become the newest reciepient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Now we want to share with you a letter from our Presidente:

This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize--men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's been also used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.

This award-- and the call to action that comes with it-- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.

So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama.

Congratulations are in order para nuestro presidente esta mañana! President Obama has been honored with a Nobel Peace Prize.  Some people are saying it's too soon, as the President has only been active for 9 months, and some are even calling it shocking.  Still, others are celebrating.  Si se puede!

According to the Committe, the president received the award for his "efforts to strengthen international diplomacy," his "vision of work and for a world without nuclear weapons" and for inspiring hope and for creating "a new climate in international politics." The President is the first to receive a Nobel Peace Prize while active in office.

What do you think? Was it too soon, or just right? In any case, we definitely have to give it up to our President! Felicitaciones and keep up the good work! [CNN]
