Our spies caught Valdemar Iódice showing off his upcoming 2009 line at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week yesterday. The renegade designer is best known for his form-fitting, elegant designs that accentuate las curvas perfectly. His spring line hypes-up the glamor even more with racy swimwear and sexy silhouettes. No wonder he’s gotten so much attention from the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton and Victoria Beckham! This fella is so good that we are even willing to adopt the Brazilian fashion house as an honorary Latino for today! Jaslene Gonzalez led a pack of bellos modelos last week during the taping of MTV Tr3s’ Fashionista, proving why she was indeed voted America’s Next Top Model. Her walk was so serious that her shoe went flying at one point. Talk about fierce!

We know fashion trends can be frustrating for Latinas. You can’t always have your tres leches cake and eat it too. We caught up with Jaslene backstage -while ordering one of her many meals- to get some style tips for the average Latina that might not be blessed with the boricua’s uber-fast metabolism!

When it comes to style, Latinas have to embrace their curves! I know that sounds funny coming from me, cause I am so flaca but I love our curves. Style comes from being comfortable in your own skin, so you have to embrace who you are and work with what you have. Stop trying to look like someone else! There is no need for that. When you accept yourself and embrace your unique qualities then beauty radiates from within.

Aww que cute! She sounds like an after school special.

Gracias por los consejos, Jaslene. Imagínate — a model that eats, and stays tan chiquita. La flaca is articulate, too!

MTV News recently caught up with model and actress Natalie Martinez on the set of Lala’s latest music video. Natalie, who will be co-hosting an upcoming style special titled MTV Tr3s Fashionista, couldn’t stop talking about the new movie she’s working on.

It’s called Death Race with Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson and we have Joan Allen and Ian McShane. It’s really exciting. It’s this whole action film that’s around prison and race for our freedom.

But don’t take any little brothers, sisters or primitos to this one:

There’s a lot of violence. It’s very Mad Max, it’s very raw. So it’s a lot of fun.

Well, it’s a good thing Natalie enjoyed herself on a set like that; usually action flicks can be pretty tough training-wise. About her labor-intensive gig, Natalie says:

It was definitely physical… I love getting rough and doing stunts. So that was a lot of fun for me. Arriba las Latinas Fuertes!!!

And we aren’t kidding; Natalie plays a pretty strong character in the film:

In the movie I play Case. She is in jail for killing her husband and she happened to be a police officer.

Wow, a husband-killing cop in jail? Cuidado!!

I’m hooked up with Jason Statham to be his driver and we race in prison. Yeah, I play his navigator. I’m definitely his sidekick.

Sounds to me like there may be a little bit of romance going on there! You can catch all the action in Death Race which hits theatres August 22nd. [MTV News]

What a weekend! Our heads are still spinning from MTV Tr3s Fashionista, an upcoming style special that taped last Friday for a premiere on August 16th at 2PM EST. NYC was the place to be el viernes pasado — you couldn’t move an inch without bumping into a hot model (ANTM winner Jaslene chowing down on not only tacos, but mcdonalds AND espaguetis), hot Latin artist (Pitbull checking out VJ Karli’s pedicure job) or host (LBoogs and Natalie Martinez shaking sus caderas in a cha-cha face-off between takes).

Among racks of ropa both couture and casual we ran into R&B singer Lloyd, whose performance of “Girls Around the World” featuring Pitbull was a highlight of the event. Before we could squeeze in any preguntas, we caught Mr. 305 schooling Lloyd on rolling his “rs.” Adorned in Dolce & Gabanna ATL native Lloyd told us that the key to having style is really about one thing:

Style is just all in the swagger. It’s not about the name brands, it’s not about the expense of the clothing, it’s just about the way you wear it. My own style consists of just configuring my outfit in wacky ways.

Sounds good to us. Lloyd also shared that he has a fetish for cute feet and doesn’t wear a shirt much in the summer — exposing his 30+ tattoos (no complaints here). At present the single crooner is promoting his album Lessons on Love and searching all around the world for the right gal.

MTV Tr3s Fashionista showed off the flyest fashion trends, from urban to sophisticated chic, on the flyest models, including featured catwalkers Jaslene Gonzalez and Danity Kane diva Aubrey O’ Day. Male and female models strutted their stuff to live performances by Nina Sky, Kinky, RKM & Ken Y, Lloyd and Pitbull. MC-ing the event were Sucker Free Latino’s L.Boogs and Natalie Martinez, of Fashion House and JT music video stardom.
