Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna have officially made box office history in Mexico.

Their latest film, “Rudo y Cursi” premiered just last week and has already earned $1.4 million, making it the fifth highest grossing film in Mexican cinema. The dramatic comedy directed by Carlos Cuaron, playfully depicts the dysfunctional relationship between to pro soccer-playing siblings who attempt to one-up each other with every goal.

We hear that the flick is so good, that Sony Classics has started a bidding war to acquire the rights to feature the film during the Sundance Film Festival beginning January 15th. These chavos make a pretty good on-screen team no? [Reuters]

But it is definitely worth examining! It is said that longtime amigas, Thalía and Gloria Estefan are no longer on speaking terms due to a personal family war. Las estrellas and their husbands, Tommy Mottola and Emilio Estefan were often spotted hanging out in their hometown of Miami and Gloria’s hubby even produced a couple of the pop icon’s tracks, including “Amor a la Mexicana.”

The dynamic duo returned to Puerto Rico for a holiday vacation after wrapping-up their ‘08 worldwide tour, and spent their downtime with cerebral palsy victim, Alex Yaniel Fuentes Camacho. Wisin y Yandel also donated a brand-new wheelchair to el niño. Props to los reggaetoneros for being in the holiday spirit de corazón.

It turns out Eva Mendes is a nerd! La Cubana recently revealed some of her dorkiest pleasures, including attending the annual San Diego Convention, which is famous for freaky costumes and comic book aficionados. MTV News caught-up with “The Spirit” actress, who quickly confessed to being a major comicon fan. It’s no wonder she is starring in Frank Miller’s new film, which is based on the animated action-packed series.

Julieta Venegas graced the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Finland this week.

Sin duda, the Mexican songstress led a siren serenade that sparked a modern-day revolution. The annual event viewed in more than 100 countries promotes an inclusive form to initiating peaceful resolutions. Perhaps you missed the memo, but trust us the fiesta didn’t just include pompous political puppets.

UPDATE: La Mexicana flexed her peaceful vibes a second time around at The Peace Concert in Norway. Scarlett Johansson co-hosted the festivities along with British actor Michael Caine, but it was the “El Presente” singer’s performance that sealed la noche’s mediation. Julieta also rocked the stage with heavyweight musical icons, including the soulful Diane Ross.

We wonder if Julieta ended the evening similar to her Latin Grammy win. Did someone say tequila?!
