Last night marked the premiere episode of Lopez Tonight. We caught it and thought George Lopez was nothing short of hysterical. The host started off the night by noting what America truly looks like: young, old, Black, White, Latino, Asian... and that change was finally coming to late night.  It's refreshing to see a Latino late night host, and we're glad that he did not disappoint!

Lopez brought his hilarious stand-up, amazing guests - which included the beautiful Eva Longoria Parker doing a number on a stripper pole - and audience games bien entretenidos to the line-up.  So what more can we expect from nuestro cómico favorito?  Well tonight should be good, as Marc Anthony and Jamie Foxx are scheduled to appear!  Mucha suerte, Señor Lopez!

George Lopez's new late night show Lopez Tonight premieres esta noche on TBS.  Joining Lopez for the premiere episode are actress, friend, and fellow Chicana, Eva Longoria Parker, talk show host and "American Idol" judge, Ellen DeGeneres, NBA all-star, Kobe Bryant and Grammy Award-winning rock legend, Carlos Santana. That's some red-hot talento he's got lined up... WAH PAH! We're impressed!

This is the perfect time for George to join the late night race. With Conan O'Brien wavering in ratings, and David Letterman tangled up in that inter-office romance/blackmail lawsuit, we think it's about time for a Latino to take over and add some spice to late night!

Latina Magazine is celebrating all things Mexico all month long! Not only is their cover art traditional and festive, but inside are articles celebrating the culture, people, and beauty of este país. Mexican Comedian George Lopez sat down for an interview with the mag, and here's a quick peek at his thoughts on staying true to his culture through his comedy, entering late night television, Carlos Mencia, and even President Obama.

On incorportating Spanish into his comedy:

I'm not afraid to speak Spanish and have somebody say, 'I gotta get an English-Spanish dictionary to understand.' That's your fu****g problem, he says. We're the largest growing demographic in the States. You don't get part of me, that's cool. Why can't you go to a show and not get it?

On entering the late night ring:

Letterman is the king of late night, he says. But I believe there's enough of a diverse audience and there's a bigger pie that I'm not fighting over the same slice that those guys are fighting over. I'm creating my own pie.

On his beef with comedian Carlos Mencia, whom Lopez accused of stealing his jokes:

I don't really talk about it no more. But there's no reason to reconcile.

During his HBO set, Lopez poked fun at President Obama and called him Latino for "living in a house that wasn't his," having his "mother-in-law raise his kids and spending money that he didn't have."

President Obama called me and he said,'Hey, Lopez, I hear you been clownin' me'."He breaks to dispense presidential cool points. That was his first line. This is from the president of the United States! [Latina]

Last night, the White House became La Casa Blanca y nuestro Presidente brought out even more of his Latino side than he has already... At least that was the running joke from George Lopez, Eva Longoria Parker, and Jimmy Smits that started off the "Fiesta Latina" showcase last night.

The event not only hosted amazing Latino figures (including the first Hispanic to sit on the Supreme Court, Justice Sonia Sotomayor), it was really a celebration of our culture y nuestra música. Obama spoke about the global appeal of our ritmo Latino, and how all cultures can tune into it. Some of those bringing down the house were Gloria Estefan, José Feliciano, and Los Premios nominees for Best MTV Tr3s Artist, Aventura, among others. But our favorite performance came from Thalía who asked President Obama to dance with her and called him "Machooo!" Love it!  Watch the clip of Obama dancing with Thalía here!

The grand finale had all the celebs on stage together, dancing to Gloria Estefan's "Mi Tierra." A perfect end to an amazing night. Stay tuned to MTV News for exclusive coverage.

Latinos continue to make us proud as they repesent our culture en la casa blanca!  President Obama and the First Lady are hosting a concert series called, "Performance at the White House: Fiesta Latina."  Ay, que rico! The program celebrates Hispanic heritage and includes performances by salsero Marc Anthony, Jimmy Smits, Gloria Estefan, José Feliciano, George Lopez, Thalia, Tito "El Bambino", our favorite bachateros Aventura, and the Chicano rock band Los Lobos.

Henry Santos Jeter from Aventura tweeted a clip from their live rehearsal earlier. Looks like it's going to be an amazing show!

Esta fiesta no se acaba! We just got word that even more super estrellas have been added to the roster of performers at the White House.

President Obama has not only invited the kings of bachata, Aventura, and our royal boricua couple Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopez, he's also turning the party out a la Mexicana, with pop sensation Thalía! Que emoción!

Other invited Latinos include George Lopez, Jimmy Smits, José Feliciano, y Los Lobos, entre algunos. Remember to stay tuned to MTV Tr3s to get all the exclusive MTV News coverage of this Hispanic Heritage Month event! [Quien]

The 22nd Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards were held this past Tuesday on Capitol Hill and it was definitely a star-studded affair. We caught up with MTV Tr3s VJ, Carlos Santos, who as we mentioned was the MC for the event, to get the exclusive inside scoop…

Biggest disappointment of the night: King of Reggaeton, Don Omar, was a no-show! El chisme es que Don Omar appeared to cancel at the last minute causing MAJOR mayhem! Scripts had to be changed and his performance replaced since he was scheduled to speak AND perform at the event. We hope he had a good reason for not showing, like working on a new album perhaps or spending quality time with his esposa, Jackie Guerrido – last we heard they were on the verge of a divorce, we’re hoping that was just a nasty rumor.

Best Performance: El romantico, Cristian Castro with his opening act of the night, “El Culpable Soy Yo.” Carlos couldn’t help but sing along as the Mexican superstar sang his heart out at the awards ceremony.

Most memorable quote: During his acceptance speech for the Achievement in Sports award, golden boy Oscar de la Hoya predicted that comedian George Lopez will be elected President of the United States in 2024! We think Oscar may be alone on that thought. Don’t get it twisted, we’re all for having a Latino in the White House, we hope it will happen before 2024, but we highly doubt it will be George Lopez!

This past weekend's ALMA awards showcased some of the biggest Latin names in entertainment.  Among the big names to win an award este fin de semana were John Leguizamo for 'Nothing Like the Holidays,' Benjamin Bratt for 'The Cleaner,' Selena Gomez for 'Wizards of Waverly Place,' Lauren Velez for her role in TV's 'Dexter.'  Also honored at the ceremony were Oscar De La Hoya, who received the Special Achievement in Sports Television award, and Salma Hayek was given the Anthony Quinn Award for Industry Excellence.  La ceremonia was hosted by comedian George Lopez and actriz/activista Eva Longoria Parker (who seemed to have a costume change for every award!)

As always, our eyes were glued to the red carpet, and here are some of our faves!

There's one award Twilight didn't take home last night at Fox's Teen Choice Awards, and that was "Choice Comedian."

George Lopez, who has a new late night talk show premiering this fall on TBS, proved that even though he's not a contemporary of Selena Gomez, R-Patz, nor Demi Lovato, he's still el hombre más chistoso en el barrio. 40+ is the new tween!

George said "Gracias" to the teen academy for picking a Latino as best comedian, and shared his night with his beautiful family.

You don't have to be Ricky Martin or Don Francisco to earn a spot on the most famous block in Hollywood anymore.

Cameron Diaz has added her own touch of oro (we don't mean Pauli's perfume) to Hollywood's Walk of Fame. The 36-year-old actress, who earns an average of $20 million per film, will join successful Latinos including Christina Aguilera, George Lopez, and Luis Miguel in their estrella glory. The half-Cuban star dedicated her eternal prize to her mother and father. Diaz admitted that the moment was bittersweet since her dad passed away last year.

Luckily her familia came out to show support! Another Latina makes her stamp in Hollywood. Felicidades! [People]
