The 82nd Annual Academy Awards were held at Los Angeles' Kodak Theater on Sunday and while we've covered some winners and losers HERE, we've yet to discuss the most important part of the night...the FASHION!

Penelope Cruz looked lovely in a crimson sweetheart cut strapless and dropped waist.

Novio/Fiancee Javier Bardem sat beside Pene during the show, but didn't walk the carpet. Cameron Diaz sparkled in a champagne and crystal encrusted gown.

Jennifer Lopez was coined Best Dressed in this Giorgio Armani Prive pink incandescent dress with flowing drapery.

Antonio Banderas brought his wife Melanie Griffith to the awards...and his BEARD!

The 82nd annual Academy Award nominations were announced yesterday and honored in the Best Supporting Actress Category is Penelope Cruz for Nine.

Upon hearing of her nomination, a surprised Penelope gave an immediate shout out to the film's director, Rob Marshall, and her fellow castmates:

"I am completely surprised and elated. Rob Marshall is not only a genius but an absolute joy to work with. I woke up every morning excited to collaborate with this amazingly talented group of actors. Filming this movie was such a special experience and to be nominated for this role makes me so happy."

Felicidades Pene! We'll be rooting for you when the Oscars air next month! (People)

AskMen.com released their annual list of the 99 most DESIRABLE females of 2010 this week, and of course the website is loco for Latinas! After a six-week voting period and 6 million votes cast, the ballots have closed and the tallying is complete.

At number 9 and 7 respectively are Eva Mendes and Penelope Cruz. Eva fell from the 2009 top spot, but still managed to hold on to a place in the top ten!

Honorary Latina Beyonce grabbed on to the 6 spot, while Jessica Alba came in 5th! 

And our favorite Brazilian model (close enough) Alessandra Ambrosio took hold of the 4 spot.

As 2009 comes to a close, todos estamos pensando el lo que ha sucedido este año: Barack Obama becoming the first African-American President of the U.S., Michael Jackson's untimely death, Justice Sonia Sotomayor becoming la primera latina in the Supreme Court, swine flu, y mucho más.

Teen Culture

Once upon a time in 2000, the airwaves were invaded by the likes of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, 'NSync and The Backstreet Boys.  While Britney's all grown up and stealing the spotlight in other ways these days, the idolization of teen stars carried on throughout la decada.

Los 00s are also responsible for American Idol with such new young stars arising like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, David Archuleta and most recently Adam Lambert.  And other teen music phenoms like the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez y Demi Lovato, and let's not forget Rihanna and Chris Brown, no se quedan atrás.  And really, would the whole Twilight phenomenon really exist without teen fever for RPatz, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart?  Who's your favorite teen icon from los 00s?

Latin Explosion!

Even more relevant para todos nosotros, was the "Latin Explosion" of los 00s.  Starting with the successful crossover careers of the likes of Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias y Shakira, los 00s brought Latinos to the forefront when it comes to la música popular americana.  Whether hearing Daddy Yankee in a soda commercial or Wisin y Yandel in a video game (and seeing both nominated for MTV Video Music Awards), there is no doubt that Latinos seriously broke through into mainstream pop culture during the 2000s.

With such collabos hitting the video and radio airwaves como Beyoncé y Shakira,  Wisin y Yandel con 50 Cent, Pitbull and Lloyd, Akon and Dulce María, y muchos más.  On the silver screen, actors like Salma Hayek, Benicio del Toro, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Eva Mendez, John Leguizamo and even Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Alba made waves para los Latinos.  Similarly on la tele, entertainers like George Lopez, Mario Lopez, Eva Longoria Parker, Wilmer Valderrama, America Ferrera and Ana Ortiz made us all un poquito más orgullosos de ser Latinos!

The Nominees for the 67th Annual Golden Globes were announced this morning by Justin Timberlake and nuestra actriz Española favorita, Penelope Cruz, was nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture category for Nine.

Her competition in the category includes: Vera Farmiga (Up In The Air), Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air), Mo'Nique (Precious), and Julianne Moore (A Single Man).

We'd say her chances look pretty good! Cruz is, after all, an Oscar winner! She received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Vicky Christina Barcelona. Do you think she'll take home the Golden Globe for her sexy role as a mistress in Nine? The one thing we do know is that the sexy Javier Bardem is sure to be her date! [Golden Globes]

We LOVE Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, but Pene and Johnny Depp...well, that's HOT too! Cruz is apparently being courted to play Depp's love interest in the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Penelope Cruz appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman yesterday where she was immediately questioned about her engagement to Javier Bardem. And of course, la bella actriz still wouldn't budge!

Penelope laughed and replied, "I don't feel comfortable talking about my private life in public."

When Letterman continued to press her, Cruz replied:

"I've been here a few times with you, you know I'm tough. One thing I don't do, I don't lie about my personal life. It's sacred to me. It's my life. But I don't give details about it because I am allergic to that."

Dave followed up with, "So you know, but you don't want to tell me?" and Cruz confirmed, "I know, but I choose not to share some things."

Another private couple! Sigh! I guess we'll have to wait until Penelope and Javier get paid for a full magazine spread devoted to their wedding!

Penelope Cruz was spotted on the Sex And The City set in NYC earlier this week. Cruz will play herself in a red carpet scene for the highly anticipated sequel. Could Penelope possibly be Smith Jerrod's new girlfriend? Smith or Jason Lewis played the role of Kim Cattrall's boyfriend in the series, but the couple broke up during the first feature; and he also joined the cast this week. La bella actriz Latina wore a sapphire and diamond encrusted ring on her commitment finger!
