Nuestro chismoso favorito, Perez Hilton, was recently named Hispanic of the Year by Hispanic magazine.

De verdad?  We thought it might have been newly-named Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, pero, who are we to judge! Felicitaciones Perez!

One of the best parts of every year's VMAs is the red carpet fashion.  Este año was certainly no exception!  From crazy avant-garde creations to high-fashion drama and a "who wore it better?" snafu, la alfombra roja kept us on our toes este año as we tried to spot our most and least favorite vestidos!

While others left us with plenty to talk about!

One of the MOST talked-about fashion moments from last night's show?  (Other than the bewilderment at the latest Lady Gaga ensembles, por supuesto!)   The matching vestido fiasco between Shakira and Pink!  Las cantantes showed up in matching Balmain black and silver sequined dresses (oops!), but they took the red-carpet mishap in stride and turned it into un chiste, even posing para fotos juntas on the red carpet.  A quien le luce mejor?

Latina Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton VS. Los Premios co-amfitriona, Nelly Furtado

Ambas cantantes opted for un vestido negro, pero los detalles make the dress in both cases.  Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton showcased her best assets in a sexy backless number, while Nelly's more conservative sheath dress brought attention to her neck and shoulders with intricate beading and sequins.

The, ahem, outspoken Kanye West and Amber Rose VS. Latin powerhouse couple, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez

Kanye sported jeans, shades and a bottle of liquor to show his bad boy steeze, but nothing makes more of a fashion statement than his model girlfriend, Amber Rose, draped over him in her second-skin snake-print bodysuit.  On the other hand, Marc, also sporting sunglasses at night, accompanied JLo in an... interesting outfit with detached velour sleeves and sky-high leopard print booties.  Both parejas seemed to be trying to prove their edge, pero which one had you convinced?

Techni-colored Perez Hilton VS. Metal warrior Jack Black

Perez always knows how to make a fashion statement.  This time around, he meticulously matched his hi-liter yellow Doc Marten boots to his... dishwashing gloves?  As an equally unlikely fashion accessory, Jack Black chose to bring along his giant double-headed axe.  Porque, claro, no sabias that the VMA red carpet is a bloodthirtsy battleground?!

Cuban rapper Pitbull VS. Senegalese R&B mogul Akon

Pitbull looked like a suave casanova in his 3-piece suit and purple tie, while Akon opted for a more modern traje and skinny black tie.  Both hip-hop stars really rocked their suits for the red carpet, pero cual lució más guapo?

"Queen of All Media" Perez Hilton is known for making some very risky fashion choices, so we were not surprised to see him in this month's People en Español "Los Mejor y Peor Vestidos" issue.  Lo que sí nos sorprende is seeing this post on his blog in which he states "Perezito has been chosen for the "Best Dressed" issue of the new People en Español."  Umm... does he need a better translator or does nuestro favorito chismoso cubano really expect us to believe que no entiende español?

Come on Perezito, de verdad crees que uno de estos crazy get-ups deserves the title of "Mejor Vestido"?  In fact, People en Español says el bloguero "tiene probablemente el gusto más cuestionable de la historia."  Not much of a compliment in our book!

So who did make the best-dressed list?  Topping la lista está la muy elegante primera dama, Michelle Obama, followed by Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria Parker y Thalía.  Tu sabes, some ladies with real style!

You've been following la relación entre Camilla Belle y Joe Jonas desde "Lovebug."

Desgraciadamente, the drop-dead gorgeous pair had an expiration date.  Belle's rep confirmed today, after prolonged speculation, that "Yes, it's true, they have broken up."

What's next for Camilla?  The "Push" actress has been paired by celeb rags con varios hombres guapos, from Robert Pattinson to Madrid-born tennis player Fernando Verdasco.  The gossip mill suggests that Camilla's recent outing with Fernando at the Paribas Open in California may have contributed to the split with Jonas.  The two did dine together after Verdasco's quarterfinal match v. Roger Federer, and Verdasco was spotted with his arm around Belle's neck.  Adding insult to injury, Camilla and Fernando went to her hotel room at night...and were seen outside of the hotel the morning after. Even though we're grieving over the major celeb split, we are rooting for Camilla to date Fernando.  Wouldn't you graduate from a boy-man to a man after seeing a pic like this?  Que Viva España!

The fight against Proposition 8 is far from over...

After months of legal back and forth, the Cali Supreme Court voted 6-1, in favor of upholding Proposition 8, the voter-approved ban on gay marriage.  Thousands of gay and straight supporters took to the streets to retaliate in a rally that evening which included celebs like Perez Hilton, Emmy Rossum, Shanna Moakler, Kathy Griffin, Pete Wentz, Mark Hoppus, Kelly Osbourne, Luke Worrall, Lisa from The Veronicas, Adam Shankman, Eliza Dushku, Jai Rodriguez, Deborah Gibson, Drew Barrymore and Sophia Bush.

Time to get with the program! The GYT campaign isn't going anywhere...

The STD awareness campaign has even garnered major attention and support in Hollywood, including A-list celeb endorsements by Perez Hilton, Soulja Boy, and JoAnna Garcia. The "Privileged" star has taken the streets to raise attention on the importance of getting tested so we decided to get the inside scoop on the Latina's journey. While Perez Hilton has made a name for himself ragging on America's A-Listers...

We found out there is more to este chismoso when he loaned himself to MTV's Get Yourself Tested campaign. For you PYTs (pretty young thangs) asking WTF is GYT? here's the 411-- GYT is a social movement around getting tested for sexual-transmitted diseases.

Serving as the info hub for the campaign, www.GYT09.org provides facts on STDs, tips on how to bring up testing with partners, and an easy to use testing center locator. We caught up with el Cubano while filming his PSA and got to see the pro-social side of Perez. Not only did watching Pedro's life story last night make us cry our eyes out...

It also reminded us of the importance of taking responsibility for our sexual health.  Keeping on top of sexual safety is easier than ever with the beginning of www.gyt09.org, a new site from MTV that launched on the heels of the Pedro premiere.

You might have seen the quirky promo spots during Pedro featuring Santigold, Soulja Boy, Big Boi, Kid Sista, Perez Hilton and Flo Rida lending support to the Get Yourself Tested site. The music festival SXSW transformed Austin, Texas into the epicenter of indie música and fresh new artistas last week. The five-day event featured a never-ending performance roster that starred up-and-coming Latin rock bands like Hello Seahorse, Bomba Estereo, and Zoe also revived up the masses with help from Kanye West, Metallic, and more. The fiesta was so over-the-top that even Perez Hilton was rocking an advisory jacket while on stage with Kanye.
