The BMI Awards were held at Las Vegas' Bellagio hotel last night where Colombian Rocker Juanes was the recipient of the 2010 President's Award.

The always humble humanitarian took stage with 5 members of his band, and delivered this very modest speech:
"Like all my colleagues here, I've been writing ever since I can remember. It's a pleasure to share this moment with all of you. "
He continued:
"I remember the first meeting I had with BMI, some 12 years ago, when I knew nothing of the music industry, and they walked me through all this."
The rocker also performed acoustic renditions of his hits, and invited Mexican singer Ximena Sarinana to share in the duet "Fotografia" and friend Juan Luis Guerra to sing "Odio por Amor."

Granted, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat's collaboration for the hit single "Lucky" is romantically irresistible...

Pero wait until you hear the bilingual version "Lucky (Suerte)" featuring Ximena Sariñana! The Latin Grammy-winner may have tucked away her "Vidas Paralelas" winter gear, but her mellow voz will still transport you straight to paradise. Adding an even smoother touch to Ximena's love confession is Jason's ode to the female spirit. Prepare to get lifted into a heavenly collaboration worth setting on repeat.

Ximena Sariñana will continue to floss her ironically titled "Mediocre" hit album during her first-ever U.S. tour launching this Saturday, April 18th in Miami, Florida. Our MTV Tr3s Descubre and Download featured artist has stemmed outside of the mainstream comparisons to Norah Jones and Fiona Apple and gardened her own fruitful seeds in the música scene. Besides her recent Grammy nomination, the Mexican cantante is also up for the Latin Billboard Music Award for “Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album of the Year.”
All we have to say is that el mundo esta mejor with Ximena as our soulful goddess. Check out the first wave of confirmed Ximena Sariñana U.S. tour dates right below the jump!

Remember peeps, looks are deceiving. Ximena Sariñana may have a niña buena rep, but the Grammy nominee also knows how to lace her lyrical playfulness for Plastilina Mosh's latest "Pervert Pop Song." The funky foursome are responsible for the latest alternative roquero craze that includes a cross between a tacky late night telenovela and a catchy disco ball fiesta. MTV News recently caught up with the Monterrey band to find out which one of the chicos are the real die hard pervs. Catch the sinful scoop ahora!
Forget about the pre-packaged news and peel open our uncensored coverage into the Zune Latin Grammy Pre-Party on Tuesday night.

The event honored Latin Grammy-nominees, poetically sound Ximena Sariñana, the "No Todo Lo Que Es Pop Es Bueno" renegades Circo, and pop roqueros Kudai. The "Best New Artist" hopeful, Ximena captured todo el mundo with her mature “Mediocre” vocals and melancholic lyrics, but that didn't stop her fans from swaying back and forth in the crowd.
Check out the "Error" singer getting it right during this mic check...

Latin Grammy performers' Kudai also got the audience hyped...

And of course we can't forget Circo's chévere set!

The Latin Grammy Awards are going down LIVE tonight in Houston, TX! Be sure to keep it locked for more post-party chisme right here!
Looks like this month’s Descubre and Download artist Ximena Sariňana has gotten too cool for school since her music hit it big. Mexican rock band and current Artist of the Week Plastilina Mosh, who happen to be Ximena’s old friends, had a lot to say about how the singer has changed since her music started becoming “la moda.”
MTV News caught up with rockers at Central Park’s Summerstage, and they were very vocal about Ximena’s sudden success. They mentioned how convenient it was for their new album due out August 5th. The album, entitled “All You Need is Mosh” features a song with Ximena called “Pervert Pop Song." They were so eager to let you sample the collabo, that they offered up the download of "Pervert Pop Song" exclusively to Tr3s for this whole week. Visit Plastilina Mosh's Artist of the Week page from today through next Monday and listen away, completamente gratis!
For those of you that are stuck on the West Coast and missed out on the indie extravaganza known as LAMC, you can peep a whirlwind recap right here:
Haven't listened to Mexican newcomer Ximena Sariñana yet? What are you waiting for? She isn't on Descubre and Download for nothing!

We can't stop playing Ximena's debut album Mediocre on repeat since getting our manos on it (perk of working in the music industry). To whom does la cantante attribute her wide range of musical influences? Ximena gives props to her musician parents and Pearl Jam; these are just a few sources of inspiration that shape her unique sound:
Pues, bueno, yo decidí que quería hacer música ya de lleno cuando escuché a Radiohead, y Pearl Jam, y Fiona Apple y de ahí fue que decidí estudiar música. Entonces a partir de ahí, empecé a hacer todo tipo de cosas, escribir canciones para soundtracks, empecé a tocar con tríos, cuartetos, y big bandas, y estándares de jazz, hasta que finalmente se desembocó todo en este proyecto que es mi primer disco de solista.
Mix that all up and what do you get? Some call her the Mexican Norah Jones. Que piensas? [MTV Tr3s Radio Noticias]
